Computerized Aircraft Simulation Centre
"Computers,
Cadets and flying are natural together " says Major Brent Deck, the Staff Officer responsible for the
Air Cadet program in BC. "I believe that aircraft simulation centers
have a major roll in preparing our cadets for flight training and making
them safer and more aware aviators". That's why our "Air
Shop" has teamed up with the then Information Management world lead by
Major Steve Deschamps in the late 90s to put these resources and web page together to
help air cadet squadrons move into the world of computerized
aircraft simulation.
CASC began in 1992
with aircraft simulation in the air cadet program at 103
Thunderbird Squadron in North Vancouver under the leadership of
then Commanding Officer, Major Steven Deschamps. RCSU(Pacific) sponsors
regional CASC in Aldergrove, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Sidney, Prince George and
Penticton. Many other squadrons have
bought simulators and incorporated them into optional activities.Albert Head
ACSTC and Comox RGS both have extensive simulator complexes for use during
summer training. The Air Cadet League of Canada is
considering the future of simulator training within the air cadet porgram in
light of encouraging more air cadets to become involved.
