2012 Selection Camps Exams & Interviews Preparation Guide

 

Summer training consists of three type of courses:
National, Regional, and Quota
.

National and regional courses tend to represent a more specialized type of course and are typically offered to our more experienced cadets. Quota courses consist of challenges that are more broad ranging from basic to advanced. Please see the descriptions of each course below for more info.

BASIC AVIATION COURSE
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2 - (13-14 YEARS OLD)

  • This course prepares youth to the fundamentals of aviation and provides the incentive to pursue specialist training in this area.
  • This training is offered at Bagotville (French) and Greenwood (English).


BASIC AVIATION TECHNOLOGY AND AEROSPACE COURSE
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2 - (13-14 YEARS OLD)

  • This course prepares youth to the fundamentals of aerospace knowledge of airfield operations and those on the construction and maintenance of aircraft.
  • This training is offered at Bagotville (French) and Greenwood (English).


BASIC FITNESS AND SPORTS COURSE
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2 - (13-14 YEARS OLD)

  • This course prepares young people to serve as an assistant in sports while developing personal habits to maintain a good fitness and healthy living.
  • This training is offered at Valcartier (French) and Greenwood (English).


BASIC LEADERSHIP COURSE
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2 - (13-14 YEARS OLD)

  • This course prepares youth to play a role of a peer leader while building on the knowledge and skills in leadership , drill and ceremony.
  • This training is offered at Bagotville (French and English).


BASIC MUSICIAN COURSE - MILITARY BAND
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2 - (13-14 YEARS OLD)

  • This course aims to further develop the competence of youth in music and prepare to come in support their local band.
  • This training is offered in the region of Quebec (French) and Blackdown (English).


BASIC MUSICIAN COURSE - PIPE BAND
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2 - (13-14 YEARS OLD)

  • This course aims to further develop the competence of youth in music and prepare to come to support the local pipe band.
  • This training is offered at Blackdown (English).


BASIC SURVIVAL COURSE
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2 - (13-14 YEARS OLD)

  • This course gives the survival skills of elementary and encourages students to pursue specialist training in this area of interest.
  • This training is offered at Bagotville (French and English).


FITNESS AND SPORTS INSTRUCTOR COURSE
6 WEEKS
LEVEL 3

  • The aim of the training is to develop a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge required to perform the role of a fitness and sports instructor and a team leader for fitness and sports activities conducted at the squadron, during regionally directed activities and/or as a staff cadet at a CSTC.
  • This training is offered at Greenwood (English).


GENERAL TRAINING COURSE
2 WEEKS
LEVEL 1 - (12-13 YEARS OLD)

  • This course provides an introduction to camp life and outlines the various fields of interest of the program.
  • This training is offered at Bagotville (French and English)


INTERMEDIATE MUSICIAN COURSE - MILITARY BAND
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 3

  • This training is offered at Blackdown (English).


INTERMEDIATE MUSICIAN COURSE - PIPE BAND
3 WEEKS
LEVEL 2

  • This training is offered at Blackdown (English).


LEADERSHIP AND CEREMONIAL INSTRUCTOR COURSE
6 WEEKS
LEVEL 3 - 15 YEARS OLD and more)

  • The aim of the training is to develop a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge required to be an instructor and team leader for drill and ceremonial activities.
  • This training is offered at Penhold (English).


MUSIC LEVELS 4-5 COURSE
6 WEEKS
LEVEL 3 - (14-16 YEARS OLD)

  • This course is to increase the musical skills of the younger to the next level of musical qualification.
  • This training is offered in the region of Quebec (French) and Blackdown (English).


PIPES & DRUMS LEVELS 4-5 COURSE
6 WEEKS
LEVEL 3 - (14-16 YEARS OLD)

  • This course is to increase the musical skills for pipes and drums of the younger to the next level of music proficiency.
  • This training is offered at Blackdown (English).


SURVIVAL INSTRUCTOR COURSE
6 WEEKS
LEVEL 3 - (14-16 YEARS OLD)

  • The aim of the training is to develop a specialist with the skills and subject matter k nowledge required to be an instructor and team leader for aircrew survival activities within the Air Cadet Program.
  • This training is offered at Greenwood (English).


Regional Courses

Advanced Instruction Staff Cadet
7 WEEKS and more
LEVEL 4 - (16 YEARS OLD and more)

  • Employed as supporting and training staff, in assistance to summer camp officers.
  • Employment positions are located within or around the following regions:
